Our historical roots and family connections run deep at Mt. Rainier, an ever present icon looming on the horizon while growing up in Seattle. Janet's grandfather, Abram Liddle, bought the land during the depression where he built Deer Park Cabins at what is now Stone Creek Lodge.
During WWII he sold it to Pat's uncle not long before it was flooded by Kautz Creek in 1947. Grandfather Abe then moved to the hillside across the highway where he built the cabins. He rented them out by the night and by the month. Later, Janet's uncle, aunt, and father, inherited the land from him, building their own cabins.

As a child growing up in Seattle, Janet made many trips here. She fell in love with the forest and returned here to live when she was 25. It was then she met her husband Pat Kennedy, who also grew up in Seattle but took frequent trips up here to his uncle’s property. They have lived here for the past 20-30 years. After Janet worked in the area for the last 15 years as an archaeologist, she and Pat decided to remodel the cabins and create this business.
